Ezio/Joe

My good friend is obsessed with Assassin's Creed 2 so for his birthday I did this painting for him but with his face under the hood. You can't tell though, haha, he can pull Ezio off really well. Happy Birthday Joe.

Book WIP 2

Another book jacket for The Graveyard Book in progress. The boy is Nobody "Bod" Owens.

Graveyard Jackets WIP

Designing a book jacket for Neil Gaiman's Graveyard Book. I've been really inspired by Dave McKeans illustrations for this and coincidently he did some of the illustrations for the Graveyard Book. I really love his images with ink sketches laid over textured backgrounds. That's what I had in mind for my jacket, but hmm... still trying to work it out. It's all been a complete experiment so far! I tried doing an acrylic textured background but it's too bright and 'loud' for the inked image. So now I've done a separate painting using bright food colouring and laid textures over that... but I'm still not sure about it. This is what I've got so far.. let's see how the rest goes.

Dinosaur Book

For uni last year we were given titles to choose from in which we had to write and illustrate a children's book with. I chose "There's a Dinosaur in My Porridge" and this is the outcome. Some of the composition is 'flat' looking because the book was a pop up book. The pop ups were painted separately and stuck on after print. So I couldn't put them in digitally.

I hope the layout and size are okay to veiw.

A scene from the book Mortal Engines where Shrike hunts down Tom and Hester in the marshlands.

Hester Shaw Revealed

Hester Shaw from the book Mortal Engines. This is from the scene where Tom chases her to a chute in London's gut, her scarf is torn from her head revealing her scarred face for the first time!

I feel like something's missing from this, but I'm not sure what!

Sailor Comet and other Stuff

Mortal Engine sketches from my book. I might work into some of these a bit more if time permits.

So... My sister is going back to America in a week and I've been wanting to draw something for her before she goes. There's an oc Sailor Moon jam being hosted on DA and I thought it would be nice to draw her something based on this jam as we both used to watch Sailor Moon together when we were little.

Although Sailor Moon was the first anime I got into, I never really created an Original character for the series. XD but it did inspire me to draw for a story I had started. So This is Sailor Comet, based off my sister <3>

Mortal Engines Lineup

My character designs for Mortal Engines all together! Some of the scaling is off because I drew them each separately and at different times without this final image in mind. Shrike also looks very out of place as I was trying a different style for him... he looks like he's going to shove everyone out the way!

from left to right: Anna Fang, Katherine, Dog, Peavey, Tom, Hester, Crome, Valentine, and Shrike.

"Dog"

Quick character sketch of "Dog", Katherine's wolf, from Mortal Engines.

Chrysler Peavey

character design for Captain Peavey from the book Mortal Engines. This project is coming to a close soon :< Deadline is wednesday. I could really keep going with this all year though..
I'm going to miss concept art project!

Anyway, this was done really really quickly by the power of energy drinks.

Test Fight Scene

Here's one of the scenes from the book Mortal Engines that I've been working on in little bits at about 1 every morning. The figures seem too stiff to me and everything could have been a little more dynamic. I'm running out of time with this project though so I don't know if I would be able to redo this piece. But I have learned a thing or two from it!

Red Balloon

A little watercolour practice I did a loooong time ago. The little girl and balloon are made up with cut card to make them pop out a bit. They've been painted for months but yesterday I finally got around to sticking them down!

New Post

Rinoa Heartilly and her dog Angelo
Anna Fang character design for the book Mortal Engines. I'm a bit worried about this summer project. There's so much to do, but my sis is here from America so all my time is taken up being with her. Not that it's a bad thing, but it means I have zero time for anything else.

Red Sketch

Why does everything look pixalated on here? I dunno, maybe because I suck. Well this is just another little sketch I did playing with colour.

Random sketches of mine I came across while tidying up the room.

Selina Final

Finished! Was a bit difficult the way I went about this piece, but I learned so much. Everything's a bit too red...

w.i.p

Here's a work in progress/experiment. I was trying out a new technique from one of the ImagineFX issues where everything is first shaded in grayscale before adding colour. I don't think it worked out so well for me, lol. Don't know if I'll ever finish this one. I just like diving straight into colour!
